In 1999, OHTO pioneered a needle shaped tip along with a low-viscosity oil-based ink they named Soft Ink this new smooth writing pen.  The aluminum body is hexagonal to prevent rolling off the desk, and becomes smooth near the grip area for writing comfort. Push down on the pen top to write and press the side button to retract the tip.
