Originally released in 1957, the Kokuro field book was designed for civil engineers to record measurements in the field. The hard cover provides stability for on-the go-writing.  Proportioned to slip conveniently into pockets, it is a mere 1/4 inch thick with 40 pages of extra smooth graph paper.  A sturdy and striking little notebook.
